No matter which presidential candidate you’re supporting, there couldn’t be a better time for high school students to take Constitutional Law with CBB+. Learning about the history and specific purpose of the Constitution, as well as how it functions (or should, according to law) within our government, will make this upcoming presidential election easier for our students to understand and more interesting for them to watch. This course meets the American Government requirement for most states and utilizes Supreme Court decisions to help students comprehend our federal government. Add to that the opening of a Supreme Court justice spot and you have the perfect political storm for taking and appreciating Constitutional Law. I want to register for it myself! 🙂

With our presidential candidates promising much, we realize that this course could be used to help our students understand what a president can and cannot do. As we listen to all of the rhetoric, it truly benefits us to be able to sort through the political speak and the reality of being the President of the United States. Our Con Law instructor, Mr. Patrick Durham, has a great passion for history/government and will make this course not only educational, but fascinating for our students. As an educator, he realizes how vital this particular course is for all of our students, as they grow into adulthood and take on the responsibility of voting. I can imagine many amazing class discussions in the coming school year. So exciting!

Mr. Durham will utilize the well written and applicable text, Constitutional Law for Enlightened Citizens, by Michael Farris, J.D. If you have not had the opportunity to listen to Mr. Farris speak at homeschool conferences, you may not be aware of his intellect and passion for raising up students to not only be responsible citizens, but also citizens who view their government from a historical, constitutional and biblical perspective. Mr. Farris is the founder of HSLDA (Homeschool Legal Defense Association) and serves as the Chancellor of Patrick Henry College.

For students also seeking a history course for the coming school year, consider combining our Con Law and American History I courses in your child’s school schedule. Our American History I instructor, Mrs. Kelly Rowe, passionately represents homeschoolers politically and she has hands-on experience with how the government operates. She utilizes primary source documents, such as the Constitution, and living books to help students better understand our early American history.

Many believe that the current presidential race will greatly impact the process of elections and the direction of our country for years to come. It’s the perfect time for our students to explore and better understand their federal and state governments, which will impact them for the rest of their lives. Be sure to visit our CBB+ website for more information and to register.

God bless you as you prepare your heart and mind for the upcoming school year and election,
